The exhibition, British Style Observed was shown as part of the National Magazine Company’s 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty celebrations, the exhibition raised £42,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The display of 12 portraits of well-known British figures from the worlds of art, film, fashion and music. This is an exhibition, then, where we are presented with women unafraid of using their creative talents to make themselves heard. They are, if you like, the anti-muses. Mary McCartney’s images show women just as they are, in all their creative, flawed and human glory. And she shows them as they ought to be depicted – with respect.
